2020 has been a challenging year for all. From statewide lockdowns, to virtual school, to social distancing, everyone has had to adjust to new behaviors and a new way of life when facing the pandemic. We’ve all missed out on traditions and events, whether it be a graduation, a wedding, a summer fair, or other social gatherings, we’ve all felt the lack of exciting activities to do, events to attend, or sights to see. 

Luckily, there is one COVID-safe activity that allows you to enjoy some holiday cheer…admiring the holiday light displays! This is an excellent way for you and your family to get out of the house and spend some quality time together. You’ll feel like you’re in a whole new world with some of the dazzling light displays put on this year!

There are a variety of options, both free and paid, across Central Indiana for you and your family to experience! When searching for a radiant show, check out this Christmas Lights List in Hamilton, Hancock, and other counties surrounding Indianapolis. It includes a regularly updated map!

Below are a few favorite suggestions across Central Indiana to get you started:

  1. A Community Christmas in Union City will be celebrating its fifteenth year in 2020! The Light Display and Laser SHow are now open nightly through December 31st! Santa and Mrs. Clause will even be in their workshop until Saturday, December 19th. 
  2. The Walkway of Lights in Marion is one of the longest-running and largest light displays in the Midwest! It spans over two miles, featuring more than 2.5 million lights along the Mississinewa Riverwalk in Matter Park.
  3. The Enchanted Luminaria Walk is a festive holiday display from December 1st- January 10th. You’ll be swept away by a dazzling display of lights and decorations throughout the Minnetrista campus.
