Even though the weather has cooled, real estate is hot during the fall season. Vacations have started to slow down as the kids go back to school and you can now focus on selling you home! Here are 5 tips on how to sell your home this autumn!

Clean Up the Yard

When selling an Indiana home in the autumn, you will definitely want to be sure your front lawn looks good when potential buyers arrive at showings. Be sure to clean up fallen leaves and any other debris from your yard. And do not let overgrown trees or bushes block the windows or path to the entrance. Make the most of the autumn weather in the fall real estate market!

Check the Furnace

You want the air inside your home to smell fresh and nothing is fresh about an old furnace that has not been cleaned or just does not work. When was the last time you changed your furnace filter? Be sure to check the HVAC system before you need to turn on the heater. And if there are any issues, definitely get those fixed before selling!

Utilize Autumn Accent Colors

Indiana is known for its fall leaves in the autumn, the colors are beyond beautiful. So utilize those signature colors in your decor! Accessorize your home with bright red, orange and/or golden yellow decor to get that cozy fall feeling. After you have cleared away the clutter and depersonalized each room, bring a few autumn hues to each room by placing bold-colored accent pieces.

Turn on the Lights Everywhere

When days get shorter and the sun sets lower on the horizon, it is important to bring on the light to brighten up your home. Pull up the blinds and turn on every light in the house, including appliance lights and closet lights. You can even brighten darker rooms by placing spotlights on the floor behind furniture.

Offer Parting Treats to Potential Buyers

So many people love the smell of fall, but even more the tastes it brings. You might set out a freshly baked pumpkin pie or even some hot apple cider. And then you could leave a guestbook by the door for people to leave comments about the home.  Gathering buyer feedback can be crucial. And buyers may be more likely to leave you a note if you give them something in return.
